This article explains every part of the overview page of a sourcing event, so you can judge quickly what the buyer is asking for, when your answers are due, and what you still need to do. A sourcing event is a request (the portal calls it an "RFx") that a buying company runs in the Strategic Sourcing module to collect supplier responses; your response is your full submission of pricing, questionnaire answers, and documents.
How do I open the event overview?
To open the event overview, click the event's title on your supplier dashboard, or follow the link in an invitation or notification email. The overview lives at /supplier/sourcing-project/[event-id]/overview and has two tabs: Overview and Q&A. The page header always shows the event type badge (for example RFQ), the event title, and your current response status. While you can still respond, it also shows the time remaining, such as 5 days remaining or 12 hours remaining. The header also holds the main action button: Start Response if you have not begun, Continue Response if a draft exists, or View Submission after you have submitted. If the deadline has passed and late submissions are not allowed, a red Submission Closed badge appears instead.
What do the event types mean?
To interpret the type badge next to the event title, use this table. It lists the four sourcing event types and what the buyer expects from you in each.
Type | Full name | What the buyer expects |
RFI | Request for Information | Information about your company and capabilities; usually questionnaire answers and documents rather than binding prices. |
RFQ | Request for Quotation | Firm prices for specific line items, entered in the pricing grid. |
RFP | Request for Proposal | A full proposal: pricing plus detailed questionnaire answers and supporting documents. |
RFA | Request for Award | A final confirmation stage the buyer runs before awarding the business. |
What does the Event Details card show?
To understand the scope and timing of the sourcing event, read the Event Details card. The card shows the buyer's Description of the event, the Type badge, the Category, the Estimated Value (when the buyer shares one), and the event Status (for example Live while the event is open). Under Key Dates you find the two deadlines that matter to you. The Submission Deadline is the exact date and time your complete response must be submitted, and Questions Due is the date and time after which you can no longer ask the buyer questions in the Q&A tab. Both are shown to the minute, for example Mar 14, 2026 at 5:00 PM.
Where do I see my response progress?
To check how much of your response is finished, look at the Your Response Progress section on the overview (shown alongside Buyer Information, which lists the buyer contacts for the event). Progress shows your Overall Completion percentage plus counters for Sections, Questions, and Pricing Items completed. The same numbers drive the response wizard, so the overview always matches what you will find when you click Continue Response.
What are rounds and the Bid Rounds card?
To follow multi-stage events, use the Bid Rounds card. A round is one complete invite-and-respond cycle; buyers can run several rounds, shortlisting suppliers between them. The card states which round is active (for example Round 2 is currently active with a Round 2 Active badge) and lists each round with its state: In Progress for the active round or Submitted with the submission date for rounds you completed. When a new round starts you respond again for that round; your previous answers are preserved and shown as read-only history.
Where are the buyer's attachments?
To download files the buyer shared, such as specifications, drawings, or terms documents, open the Documents card on the overview. It is described as Documents attached by the buyer for this RFx and lists each file with its Name, Size, and Uploaded date. Click a file to download it. These buyer attachments are different from document requirements: document requirements are files the buyer asks you to upload, and they appear in the Documents step of the response wizard, not on the overview.
What if the event requires an NDA?
To respond to an event that requires a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), you must accept the NDA first. The NDA screen appears automatically the first time you click Start Response; you can read and download the agreement, then click Accept NDA & Continue. Until you accept, the pricing, questionnaire, and document steps stay hidden.
What do the status alerts at the top mean?
To catch anything that needs your attention, check the colored alert banner at the top of the overview. This table lists the three alerts that can appear there and what each one tells you.
Alert | Meaning |
Submission Deadline Passed | The deadline is over and you did not submit; you can no longer submit a response. |
Response Submitted | Your response was submitted on the shown date and the buyer is reviewing all submissions. |
Price Negotiation Pending | The buyer has requested price adjustments on a stated number of items; click Review & Respond to open the negotiation. |
Your own response status in the header moves through Not Started, In Progress (draft saved), Submitted, and finally Accepted or Rejected once the buyer decides.
